Abruzzo is one of the most breathtaking regions of Italy. Abruzzo has everything, but most important, life in Abruzzo is relaxed and people of Abruzzo do not stress. Great wines, lovely food, olive groves, very friendly population, amazing nature, miles of sandy beaches, the 2 highest mountain in the Apennines, ski resorts and finally the biggest European nature park, where wild bears, wolfs, horses and many other animals live a quiet and peaceful life. Abruzzo is amazing in its many aspects and it all starts less than 50 kilometers east of Rome city center going toward the Adriatic ocean.
Pescara is the main city of Abruzzo. It is a modern city facing the Adriatic sea. The city has many nice restaurants, cafes, shops, and hotels. Here you will find the only international airport in Abruzzo. Abruzzo has 3 other main cities, Chieti, Teramo, and L’Aquila. All 4 worth a visit. In between the 4 main cities, you find hundreds of small villages, all having their own fascinating stories.
As with all other regions in Italy, Abruzzo has its own traditional kitchen. Besides the fish and shellfish being served along the coast, Abruzzo has a dish called Arosticini. This is mutton meat roasted on a stick. Ask any Italian person and they will know this dish. Most people love it. Wine is probably the most important industry in Abruzzo, but next to vineyards almost as many olive trees are growing providing a high-quality olive oil.
